Joli OS 1.2 leaves my Dell Mini 10 searching for a new OS

Sad story but true..  my 1.1 or 1.0 version of Joli was a better deal for my laptop than the updated 1.2. In fact, 1.2 actually crashed itself. So I took the time to download the ISO install it via that. it came back up, but with all my custom settings gone again and STILL missing video support etc, I felt the time was ripe to try out some more.

I didn't search very far however. JoliOS is based on Ubuntu Netbook Revision 10.10. I installed that with some issues, mostly that the Poulsbo driver doesn't come installed on it for the GMA 500 video card. Followed some instructions from the site and it was up and going with essentially a copy and pasted sudo command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gma500/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install poulsbo-driver-3d

from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsbo

The GOOD news is that my VIDEO works again! And it even sees and uses my TV tuner! How freaking sweet. Ultimately I think I'm too much of a power user for Joli. I need to be able to have quicker smoother access to nitty gritty parts of the system; namely easier ways to install packages (just leave the Synaptic package manager in there huh?) as well as the folder system, terminal access etc. And seriously why do videos work with Ubuntu and not with Joli? How did you guys screw that up?

So now I'm off to install Citrix, the NX Client, and tweak on the interface to make more use of the small screen. I really dont think it needs a complete redesign.. the Unity interface would be great if it worked on the Dell mini 10. But.. I'm functional and that is better than pretty :)
